Planning panel sets hearing on fitness center
Business may be shut down Owners of a Madera health club will find out in two months whether its permits to operate should be revoked.
The Madera Planning Commission on Tuesday voted to set a hearing for July 12 on complaints that the club, formerly known at Thrive Fitness and now known as Fitness Evolution, had violated terms of three conditional use permits under which the club has operated under several ownerships since 1963. As Thrive Fitness, it has been owned by Christopher Montoya, who appeared Tuesday night to seek an extension of the hearing date.
The complaints were aired at a Planning Commission hearing Tuesday, during which neighbors and Madera Planning Manager Christopher Boyle detailed the violations.
