Juvenile suspect detained
Madera Police Department Officer Sergio Hernandez found a stolen vehicle in the northeast city limits, where multiple vehicles were reported stolen the night prior. The vehicle, which had multiple occupants inside, led Hernandez on a pursuit into the county area near Avenue 18 1/2 and Road 25 1/2. The suspect vehicle was involved in a minor single-vehicle traffic collision, causing the suspects to flee the area.

Dense fog and DUI not a good combo
For The Madera Tribune A driver ran a stop sign in the fog on January 18, and struck a metal pole on Road 35 and Avenue 9. A 22-year-old impaired driver ran a stop sign and violently struck a metal pole on Road 35 and Avenue 9, on Jan. 18, just after 7:30 p.m. One bad decision nearly turned deadly. The driver was fortunate to survive, and fortunate no one else was involved/hurt.

Animal dumpers will be held accountable
Dumping an animal is a serious crime in Madera County. The Madera County Sheriff’s Office has vowed they will investigate these cases and hold people accountable. If anyone can no longer care for an animal, there are legal and humane options available. If anyone witnesses illegal animal dumping in Madera County, report it to the MCSO, as animal cruelty will not be tolerated in the County.

U-turn leads to deadly crash
California Highway Patrol Madera officers responded to a two-vehicle traffic crash, on Road 28 1/2, north of Harper Boulevard on January 9 at about 12:15 a.m. A 21-year-old man from Madera was driving a 2026 Toyota Corolla, southbound on Road 28 1/2. MCSO SAR team makes rescue
Madera County Search and Rescue responded to an incident at Lewis Creek involving a 34-year-old female who injured her ankle while hiking the Corlieu Falls Trail on Tuesday. Personnel from Madera County SAR, U.S. Forest Service Fire and Law Enforcement, and Sierra Ambulance assisted at the scene. The patient was safely carried out to the parking area and transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further medical care.

Driver walks away from crash
CHP Madera officers responded to a two-vehicle crash on SR-152, at Road 9 on Monday at about 3 p.m. A white Ram 2500 collided with the trailers of a Peterbilt as the Peterbilt attempted to cross the westbound lanes of SR-152. Thanks to wearing his seatbelt, the 66-year-old man driving the Ram truck sustained non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
