Police seek suspect in gas station robbery

Madera Police Department hope to find information about a robbery robbery committed at gunpoint at a gas station last weekend.

According to Madera Police Det. Sgt. Mark Trukki, the suspect, a Hispanic male, wearing a black hat and a black jacket, entered the Mobil gas station at 1030 N. Gateway Drive on Sunday morning, and placed a bag of chips and a bottle of soda on the counter, as if to make a purchase.

Surveillance footage then shows the suspect draw what appears to be a gun and point it at the cashier, demanding he empty the cash register.

“Several hundred dollars were given to him,” Trukki said, “and he fled out the door.”

Footage of the robbery can be found on the department’s Facebook page. Those with more information are encouraged to contact the department at 675-4200, or Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP.
