TJ, Sherman Thomas win math tournament

The Thomas Jefferson Middle School eighth grade team outscored its opponents to win the Madera County Superintendent of Schools’ Math Tournament, held a Madera Community College on Friday.

 

Sherman Thomas STEM Academy’s seventh grade team and Thomas Jefferson Middle School’s eighth grade team won the Madera County Math Tournament in their respective competitions. 


Ranchos Middle School came in second place in the seventh grade math competition, and Mountain Home School Charter placed third on Friday. Sherman Thomas STEM Academy’s eighth grade team placed second in the competition, and Dairyland Elementary School placed third at the eighth grade level.


This year, 13 schools and more than 150 students participated in the Math Tournament hosted by Madera County Superintendent of Schools and Madera County Schools Foundation. Each grade competed in a separate competition. Students took four tests: Leap Frog, Circuit Training, Mad Hatter, and Relay Race at the Madera Center.
