Toros place third in state

FRESNO — After a dominant performance in the Central Section Championships, Matilda Torres Toros cross country coach Jose Herrera was looking for a podium finish for his team.

The Toros looked to be in good at the start of the Div. II race Saturday at the CIF State Cross Country Championships at Woodward Park.

The Toros were second at the first mile checkpoint, then stayed in second at the second mile. However, Glendora overtook the Toros in the final mile to take second. However, the Toros still made their way to the podium with a third place finish.
