Gilda Pistoresi of St. Joachim School talks to members of Madera’s American Association of University Women about her experiences at Tech Trek, a camp that engaged students across the state in STEM-based challenges. The AAUW group sponsored 10 young ladies to attend the camp and invited them to talk to the group about their experiences.

Participants of this year’s Tech Trek joined the members of Madera’s local American Association of University Women to enjoy dinner and to share their university experience.

At the private residence of one of the AAUW members, 10 select young women gathered with their families and the local women’s empowerment group Monday for a night of communion and sharing as they described their weeklong university experience with the UUAW members who helped make the experience possible.

Maya Reyes and Laiyla Marz of Desmond Middle School, Snow Escoto and Giada Pistoresi of St, Joachim School , Madison Howery and Genevieve Newland of Ranchos Middle School, Azriella Villa of Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, Aubrey Martinez of Howard School, and Addison Rodriguez and Peyton Martinez of Thomas Jefferson Middle Schools participated in a week-long experience where they engaged with students across the state in a series of STEM based challenges that encouraged problem solving, team building, and creative thinking.
