Stallions swimmers capture title

For The Madera Tribune

The Madera South Stallions girls swimming team celebrates winning the program’s first-ever league champiosnhip after capturing the North Yosemite League title on Saturday.

The Madera South Stallions girls swimming team has done something no other swim team has done in school history — win a league title.

The Stallions won six races Saturday at Sunnyside to propel them to the first league championship in school history. The boys team placed fourth, but the two teams combined gave the Stallions the overall championship, as well.

Both the girls and boys 200 medley relay teams captured the NYL championship while recording their best times of the year. Both times are considerations for Div. II Valley Championships on Friday at the Kern High School District Aquatic Complex in Bakersfield.
