Madera South’s Erika Valdivia-Rodriguez (11) and Hannah Eades go up for a block attempt against Sunnyside. Eades put down 15 kills with five aces in Thursday’s five-set win.
If volleyball was played to 23 points instead of 25, the Madera South Stallions girls volleyball team would have had a three-set victory against the Sunnyside Wildcats.
Instead, the Wildcats came from behind in two sets to take a 2-1 lead before the Stallions won the fourth set, 25-23 and the deciding fifth set 15-13 Thursday at Madera South.
“The minute a team starts to put pressure on us, we crumble really fast,” head coach Madison Devine said. “We’ve been working on it. It was like that last year, too. We are a work in progress. I saw the light at the end of the tunnel during the fourth set and in the fifth.”
