The Madera Police Department celebrated the career and legacy of Sergeant Shawn Bushey, who began his journey with the Madera Police Department on Nov. 18, 2000 and officially retired Thursday.

Over the course of 25 years of service, Sergeant Bushey wore many hats, and carried each with honor and excellence. He served as a Field Training Officer, Detective, Range Master, Corporal, Sergeant, Crowd Management Supervisor, and most recently, Administrative Sergeant.

In 2002, he was recognized by his peers as Officer of the Year, an award that reflects not just his work ethic, but the heart behind the badge. But accolades alone don’t define his legacy, his character, kindness, and leadership do.
