Scout Troop 116 to celebrate 75th anniversary

For The Madera Tribune

Members of Boy Scout Troop 116 prepare for its 75th Anniversary celebration on Saturday from noon-4 p.m. at the Madera Methodist Church. From left are Michael Armendarez, Michael Stone, and Ryde Garlick.

An event is planned for Madera Scout Troop 116 to celebrate its 75th anniversary on Saturday, from noon-4 p.m., at Madera United Methodist Church, 500 Sunset Avenue.

The troop was established in 1949, and for the past 75 years, has served Madera with its community service, and has shaped the lives of many young people. If anyone has been a part of scouting through troop membership or leadership, they are encouraged to attend this special event.

This will be potluck style, and the Scouts will barbecue hamburgers and hot dogs. If anyone is planning to attend, please RSVP so the Scouts will know how much to cook. Guests may email, or text 559-474-9731 to make reservations. If anyone has scouting pictures from past 116 Boy Scout adventures, please bring them for a scrapbook.
