Obituary: Judy Ann Sabo Wood

Judy Ann Sabo Wood.

 

On May 3, 2023, Judy Ann Sabo Wood, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, passed away peacefully at home in Boise, Idaho after a long battle of Alzheimer at the age of 84. Judy was born on November 1, 1938, at Hawthorne Hospital in Los Angeles, CA to Pauline Marion McAlmond Sabo and Steven Fredrick Sabo.

Judy is survived by her loving daughters Holly Higgins, Teresa Chastain, Christal Phillips, her son-in-law Craig Chastain, daughter-in-law Lorie Wood, niece Kathy Sabo and her two nephews, David and Gary Sabo. She is predeceased by her son Mark Wood. Judy will be missed by her nine grandchildren and 13 great and great-great-grandchildren.


Judy graduated from Westchester High School and attended California State University Stanislaus. In her career as a teacher, Judy taught disabled and handicapped adults how to read, showing them an independence and life they, without her, would not have known.

Judy will be remembered by her Christian faith, her love of teaching and her innumerable talents. Judy loved to sew, producing custom, quality clothing. Judy also loved gardening, producing most of the family’s produce and fruit. In addition to produce she cultivated a prodigious flower garden from which she enjoyed creating flower arrangements for weekly church services. Judy was a member of Snelling Community Chapel of California and Grace Community Church of Madera, California. While living in Idaho, she attended Calvary Chapel Boise.

Her profound impact due to her loving spirit, caring heart, dedication, practicality, and hardworking nature will be remembered by those within the communities she lived.


Honoring Judy’s generosity and love of pedagogy, she chose to be remembered by an Anatomical Donation. Donations in honor of Judy Wood’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
