Obituary: Giuseppe 'Joe' Chiaradia
For The Madera Tribune
Giuseppe “Joe” Chiaradia.
Giuseppe “Joe” Chiaradia passed away on September 6, 2021 at the age of 76, in Fresno, California due to prolonged pulmonary and cardiac problems.
Giuseppe was born in Mansue, Italy in 1945. The second child and eldest son to the Chiaradia family, he grew up farming and working with his father, and eventually started a thriving construction business as a teenager. Giuseppe went on to follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather and serve in the Italian Special Mountain Infantry — the Alpini.
In 1973, Giuseppe married Anne Marie Martina. After having their son, Joe, they immigrated to the US in 1981. He first arrived in Madera on a bus from LAX. He started his life in the US pruning vines and working in construction so that Anne and Joe could join him. He would live in Madera for the remainder of his life, where Anne gave birth to their daughter, Isabelle.
His life in the US proved challenging, but that did not stop him from sharing the simple pleasures and joys in life with his loved ones. Despite losing Anne to cancer, he remained the bedrock of his family, working tirelessly as a beekeeper and stone mason.
In 2004, Giuseppe married Kathryn Linebarger and gained more family, whom he cherished.
Giuseppe’s family had the great fortune to know an incredibly resilient and capable person who was fiercely dedicated to his family. He is predeceased by his wife Anne Marie. He is survived by his children, Joe and Isabelle, wife Kathyrn, step-children, grandchildren, and step-grandchildren.
Giuseppe will be remembered in a memorial service at 10 a.m. on November 6, 2021 at the Arbor Vitae Cemetery in Madera, California. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Angel Flight West in his memory.
