La Puerta Negra owners, Jorge, center, and Cornelio Osuna (holding scissors) get ready to cut the ceremonial ribbon during a garden opening ceremony on September 16. La Puerta Negra took over Edgar’s Restaurant’s location at 1922 Howard Road.

Occupying the former Edgar’s Restaurant space, La Puerta Negra officially opened its doors with a grand opening ceremony last week.

New owners Jorge and Cornelio Osuna hope their new restaurant will be known for its different foods and atmosphere after hosting their grand opening September 16.

“We want to be known for our seafood, our ceviches and our big hit deep-fried seafood tacos,” Jorge said. “I find this place to be a blend of upper-class dining with something you would find at a street cart or food truck. It’s kind of a food truck, but elevated. We brought in bacon-wrapped hot dogs topped with asada. You don’t see those around.
