The Matilda Torres Toros boys cross country celebrate the program’s third striaght Central Section title, this year in Div. II after claiming the Div. III title last year and the Div. IV title the year before, at Thursday’s Central Section Cross Country Championships at Woodward Park.

FRESNO — A year after not sending a runner to the CIF State Central Section Cross Country Championship, the Madera South Stallions are sending not one, but two teams to Saturday’s race, and they will be joined by the Matilda Torres Toros boys team, who won their third straight Central Section title.

“It’s really great to send two teams,” Stallions’ head coach Sky Fierro said. “For a long time, Madera South just had boys and their girls were up-and-coming. To have both programs going is really a testament to the athletes and all the dedication they put in.”

On top of the team accomplishments, Madera South’s Valorie Jimenez won the Div. II individual championship, the first at Madera South since 2009.
