Madera listens to the first round of cannabis retail sales applicants
Madera is one step closer to having it’s own legal marijuana dispensaries for recreational use. As business applicants clear the hurdles to open shop in Madera, the city has narrowed down the list of eligible applicants to 20 potential businesses.
After the conclusion of the public hearings, the city will award four licenses and two social equity licenses for the retail of cannabis within city limits.
At the first of four public meetings held by the city of Madera on Thursday, residents listened to the presentations of potential cannabis retail sales applicants. In a meeting moderated by City Planner James Troyer at city hall, attendees were given an opportunity to voice their support or disapproval of five of the 20 applicants to be considered for one of six licenses to be awarded by the city of Madera.
