Madera FAN to induct 9th class

The Madera F.A.N. will induct its ninth class of Madera Athletic Hall of Famers on January 14. Leading the class are two-time Central Section cross country champion Carlos Sanchez, above, and three-sport All-League recipient, and legendary softball coach Judy Shaubach.
The Madera F.A.N. Organization will inducts its ninth class of Madera Athletic Hall of Fame inductees in the next couple of weeks.
The Hall of Fame will induct 10 new members on January 14 at the Madera Fairgrounds Home Arts Building (Formerly Woman’s World) with ceremonies beginning at 5 p.m.
Sugar Pine Smokehouse will provide the dinner and there will also be a silent auction.

Inducted for the individuals will be:
Heather Bates- All-Time leading scorer in MHS Girls Basketball History.
Megan Bresnick- Career leading scorer in Madera South Girls Soccer history and led the Stallions to the first Central Section Championship game/match.
Heather Hansen- Three-time Central Section Cross Country champion.
Carlos Sanchez- Two-time Central Section cross country champion and member of three team championships.
Judy Shaubach- Three-time All-League athlete in volleyball, basketball and softball. Member of the first MHS softball team and the first Fresno State softball team to playin the College World Series.
Norm Wood- Track star that set records in the long jump.
Paul Bittick, who was The Madera Tribune’s Sports Editor for 15 years will be inducted as a contributor, as well as Alan Brown, a long-time sports photographer. However, Brown will be a member fo the 2022 class, but will be inducted at the next ceremony because his family had prior engagements.
Legendary track coach Frank Brunolli will be inducted as a coach after 13 years leading the Coyotes. He also spent the next 30 years after retiring from coaching to be the starter at MHS track meets. He will be the first member to be inducted as an athlete (2009), a member of a team (1948 football team in 2009) and a coach.
Also, the first MHS Baseball team to win a North Yosemite League Championship and playin a Central Section championship team, the 1976 team will be inducted.

Coach, Bill Aston- Asst Coach, Dan Ascanio, Jeff Bottorf, Tom Cook, Jim Ferguson, Brian Gutknecht, David Jaurique, Mike Lowry, Mike Marin, Randy Martin, Marcel Mattingly, Marcus Moreno, Vincent Petrucci, Bobby Rodriguez, Mike Soria, LaChelle Tarver, Bernard Urrutia, Bill Vander Laan and Mickey Wright.
