Madera Elks give out dictionaries

Madera Elks members talk to 3rd grade students and hand out dictionaries.

The Madera Elks Lodge #1918 completed their Dictionary Project recently, with help from the community, raised funds to purchase dictionaries for the 3rd grade students for 26 schools in Madera and Chowchilla.  

The goal of this program is to assist all students in completing the school year as good writers, active readers and creative thinkers by providing students with their own personal dictionary.  

The committee divided up in teams to visit all the schools and deliver 2,100 books. The lodge has been dedicated to this project since 2011.
