Madera County School Boards Association visits MadTEC
The Madera County School Boards Association was hosted by the Madera Unified School District at the Madera Technical Exploration Center (MadTEC) for its quarterly.
Board members from Alview-Dairyland, Bass Lake, Chawanakee, Chowchilla Elementary, Chowchilla Union High School, Golden Valley, Madera Unified, Yosemite Unified, and Madera County Superintendent of Schools enjoyed a tour of the outstanding facilities demonstrating flexible learning spaces and high-tech instructional tools to engage eighth grade students from MUSD on March 2.
Career pathways in agriculture, entrepreneurship and marketing, health science, manufacturing and engineering, media and performing arts, and public safety were areas of interest and questions were answered by Principal Alyson Rocco and Dean of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Laura Quiroz.
The association’s objective is to preserve, advance, and improve public schools while promoting educational opportunities for the betterment of the people of Madera County. MCSBA members raised over $500 in scholarship funds during their meeting. Donations will be combined with funds already raised and be distributed to scholarship winners this spring.
The dinner meeting was highlighted by a presentation from President and Partner Kevin Gordon of Capitol Advisors. He spoke on budget negotiations in Sacramento and outlined information related to assembly and senate bills. California School Boards Association Region 10 Director, Kathy Spate provided information on upcoming governance trainings and the Legislative Action Week coming up on March 15-17 via Zoom.
