Letters: Now here’s to you, Madera Tribune

Corrie Valdez has been the Advertising Coordinator for The Madera Tribune, and has decided to make a change in her life. She has worked for the Tribune for a total of 23 years. We wish her well on her journey as we publish her letter to say farewell to us, her customers, and our readers:

As I reach my golden years, my husband and I felt that it was time to retire to spend more time with our children and grandchildren.

Reflecting on my 23 years with The Madera Tribune newspaper, I share with you some of my thoughts of this journey.

I walked into The Madera Tribune as a young wife and mother of two, who had absolutely no experience in media or advertising sales, for that matter. Fred Ward, who was the publisher at the time, decided to give me a chance to prove myself in advertising sales. On my first day, I sold my first ad. I thought to myself, maybe I can do this job; and the journey began.
