Heavy hitter headed to New Mexico

Wendy Alexander/The Madera Tribune

Madera softball player Brianah Hamilton talks to the crowd during Madera High School’s Athletic Signing day while her father, Kenny Hamilton, watches over her.

Brianah Hamilton made a statement in just her first year for the Madera Coyotes softball program, setting the school record for home runs in her sophomore season.

She even outdid herself by breaking that record the next year and also set the school’s career home run record with one year left. She hit five more this year while earning the County/Metro Athletic Conference’s Player of the Year and The Madera Tribune’s Offensive Player of the Year. Oh, and she also led the Coyotes to the Div. II Central Section Championship.

One of the most decorated softball players in history will head to New Mexico State to play for the Aggies. She had another school, Linfield University, but fell in love with the school during her visit.
