Liberty ace Dylan Whiteman delivers a pitch during Thursday’s victory over Firebaugh. He struck out 10 batters in five innings pitched.
Although the Liberty Hawks baseball team banged out just four hits, it was enough for a 10-0 victory over the Firebaugh Eagles in a non-conference game.
The Hawks took advantage of seven Firebaugh errors to score eight unearned runs Friday afternoon. Colton Acevedo, Gabriel Casares and Hudson Groh (2) had the hits for the Hawks.
“One advantage about us is we’re athletic so we’re able to put balls in play and make things happen with our feet,” head coach Derrick Kuhn said. “One of the things is we have to do better is put the ball in play with two strikes.”
