The Fossil Discovery Center in Chowchilla held its first annual Christmas Tree Showcase last Saturday evening.
Featuring trees from over a dozen businesses and individuals, the museum was adorned with twinkling lights and an array of holiday decorations. For those who attended the free public event, a selection of cookies, coffee and hot chocolate was made available for guest enjoyment who had a chance to vote for their favorite tree while holiday music could be heard in the background.
Even without an identifying sign for the center, Santa found his way there to make an appearance as members of the community enjoyed the displays of not just trees, but fossils and other natural history exhibits throughout. Even some of the fossil exhibits donned their own holiday apparel, such as antlers and other festive head decor.
