Coyotes improve in loss to Knights

Benny Munoz/The Madera Tribune

Madera’s Brilynn Santiago slides in safely after rounding the bases for an inside-the-park home run in the first inning of Friday’s loss to the Bullard Knights.

The last time the Madera Coyotes softball team battled the Bullard Knights, they were never in the game during a 6-1 loss. However, two weeks later, the Coyotes battled throughout the game and came up just short in a 6-5 loss Friday at Zimmeman Field.

The Coyotes answered almost every Bullard score and kept battling in until the final out was made, with the game-tying and game-winning runs in scoring position in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The Coyotes closed out the home portion of their regular season schedule Tuesday against San Joaquin Memorial and will finish the regular season with three straight road games — Justin Garza, Edison and Sanger.
