Madera freshman Destinee Avila connects on a base hit in the seventh inning of Tuesday’s NorCal playoff loss to Central Catholic in Modesto.
In their first forays into the CIF NorCal State Championships, both the Central Section-winning Liberty Hawks baseball team and Madera Coyotes softball team fell in its first games earlier this week.
The Liberty Hawks earned a home game with a No. 4 seed in the Div. III NorCal State Championships, and lost, 3-2, to the fifth-seeded Oakmont-Rosevelle Vikings on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Coyotes were seeded seventh in the NorCal Div. III playoffs, and ran into a tough pitcher from 2nd-seeded Central Catholic-Modesto in a 3-0 loss Tuesday.
