The Madera baseball community was well represented at the 57th annual City/County All-Star Baseball game on Sunday at Chukchansi Park, led by the Liberty Hawks’ coaching staff. From left, beginning third from left, are Liberty Head Baseball Coach Derick Kuhn, Colton Azevedo (Liberty), Trevor Teran (Madera), Amani Sua (Matilda Torres), Mark Huarte (Madera), Aden Lechuga (Madera), Danny Sandate (Liberty), Victor Palomino (Madera South), Xaviar Gordon (Liberty), and other members of the coaching staff, including Martin Carvahlo and his son, Connor.

FRESNO — It was the same story for the County All-Stars in the 57th annual City/County All-Star Baseball game at Chukchansi Park.

The County could’t escape three errors that led to four unearned runs in an 8-3 City win Sunday. The win was the City’s eighth straight daiting back to 2017 (there was no game in 2020), and 11th out of the last 12 games played.

There were no shortage of support from the four Madera schools. Madera had four representatives at the game — Mark Huarte, Aden Lechuga, Joel Arellano and Trevor Teran. The Liberty coaching staff, head coach Derick Kuhn, led the County squad. Joining Kuhn were Colton Azevedo, Xaviar Gordon and Danny Sandate. Victor Palomino represented Madera South and Amani Sua was the first-ever representative from Matilda Torres.
