Madera National’s Fitzgerald, Alvarez and Ciummo shows off their rings after winning the league’s championship game Saturday with a 3-2 victory over defending champions, McDonald’s.
In a classic pitcher’s dual, it came down to little mistakes that allowed Fitzgerald, Alvarez and Ciummo to score the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth inning for a 3-2 victory over defending champs McDonalds to win the Madera National Little League majors championship.
Eli Guillen scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fifth inning to lead Ciummo’s to the victory while backing a seven-hitter from Avery Calvillo to capture the crown Saturday night.
The loss ruined a great picthing performance from McDonald’s Aiden Kemmer, who allowed just two hits, struck out 12 and waked just two. He allowed three runs, but two were unearned.
