Rick Drayer, honored as Cattleman of the Year. He was given an award and a new cowboy hat.
The Madera County Cattlemen’s Association held its annual dinner at Buchenau Ranch on Friday. The evening was one of friendship and comradery as cattlemen of Madera County enjoyed visiting with each over and honoring special people of the cattle industry. The event has become a tradition in Madera County, and has been held annually since 1963.
Rick Drayer was honored as the 62nd Cattleman of the Year. The Madera County Cowboys of the year were brothers Reid and Riley Hillerman, and Max Olvera and Steve Faria were honored as the Friends of the Madera County Cattle Industry.
The evening began with a time of mixing and visiting with each other, and then attendees were asked to be seated as the live dessert auction was conducted by 19-year-old auctioneer Grayson Haydn-Myer, who professionally encouraged the high dollar prices for the beautiful and delicious desserts. Afterwards, was the live auction for other items. A silent auction also was displayed throughout the evening.
