Local chapters insist, ‘We can’t wait’
Contract negotiations between Madera Unified School District and the Madera teachers’ union may have reached a 12-year low, according to Madera Unified Teacher’s Association president David Holder, who made this public assessment at the May 13 meeting of the Madera school board.
Holder’s remarks were supported by a huge contingent of MUTA members, some of whom hinted at the possible connection between MUTA and other union locals across California that are joining forces to maximize their power in a campaign called, “We Can’t Wait.”
The “We Can’t Wait” mantra was seen and heard at the board meeting as MUTA members carried signs and took the podium to inform the board that, “We Can’t Wait.”
