A crowd fills Circle Gallery for a reception and awards ceremony for the annual Celebrate Agriculture with the Arts exhibit on display through October 21.

The Madera County Arts Council kicked off its 2022 Celebrate Agriculture Exhibition and Competition with an opening reception.

Before the celebration, local artists brought their exhibits to be judged and displayed in Circle Gallery at 424 N. Gateway Drive for a September 7 kick-off show.

The reception, which was held at the gallery, had a very artistic display of foods consisting of fresh fruits, cheeses, breads, nuts and other finger foods. Wines and other beverages were served, and visitors enjoyed an evening of drinks and hors d’oeuvres as they viewed the displays of art throughout the gallery.

The annual theme for the fall exhibition and competition is Agriculture, and all paintings, photography, and other artistic items judged were related to agriculture.

The Best of Show 2022 award went to Rick Freitas for his painting entitled “Garlic Field.” The oil painting showed much depth, as the view was from the edge of the field looking toward the horizon.

The art show will continue through October 21. Visit the Circle Gallery. All works at the gallery are from local artists.

The Gallery is open Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
