Stallions gallop past Kerman in six-goal affair

The Madera South Stallions boys soccer team dominated the Kerman Lions behind six goals from six different players at Lee DaSilva Field at Memorial Stadium.
“I think they stepped up to the plate, they all performed” Madera South first-year coach Enrique Garcia said. “They all did their part and we got the good win.”
The Stallions used a combination of quick movement and team play to break down the Lion defense twice in the first half and four times in the second Monday evening. Christian Garcia and Abraham Vasquez scored two goals and two assists, combined, in what was a goal haul for Madera South.
“We like to work tactical and move the ball around,” Garcia said. “We get options, find options and we do everything with a purpose.”
Kevin Osuna provided a spark for the Stallions early in the match. He galloped down the pitch, beating his defender and unleashed a shot just outside the penalty area. Unfortunately, the ball slowly dribbled to the keeper without any danger. Jose Chavez made a run on the wayward shot, but was unable to latch onto it.
The Stallions got on the board with almost 20 minutes gone in the first half after a Kerman giveaway sparked a counter. Garcia sprinted down the middle of the pitch, side-stepping a Lion defender before laying the ball off to Daniel Maciel.
Maciel surveyed the penalty area before he whipped in a searching cross which was deflected by Chavez into the path of Osuna, who buried the ball into the back of the net.
The Stallion’s ability to pick up their pace allowed them to catch the Lions napping.
David Vasquez gave the Stallions their second goal of the first half after he fired from 15 yards out to beat the keeper to the bottom corner. His long-range effort was the culmination of a well-worked counter attack.
After a dominant first half, the Stallions entered the break with the momentum.
Madera South extended its lead in the 57th minute after Abraham Vasquez dribbled into the box before he delivered a low cross, which beat the Kerman keeper and landed in the path of Joseph Rivera, who sent the Stallions to their third goal of the game.
Garcia continued his impressive match with a thunderbolt from 25 yards out. The ball took flight and curved out of the reach of the Kerman goalkeeper.
The score ballooned to 5-0 after Maciel set up Abraham Vasquez inside the penalty area, where he converted a simple tap in.
Although the game was beyond reach, the Stallions kept pushing to the end and were rewarded for it.
The Stallions made it six after Maciel called his own number after he sprinted into the penalty area and released a shot that ricocheted off the keeper and in.
