Construction on high-speed rail tracks to close county roads
The California High-Speed Rail project will necessitate two road closures of more than a year in Madera County, starting in August, according to information from High-Speed Rail Authority.
Avenue 11 will be closed to through traffic between Road 31 and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks for approximately 18 months starting Aug. 21.
This work is part of Construction Package 1 (CP 1), the first 32-mile stretch of high-speed rail tracks between Avenue 19 in Madera County and East American Avenue in Fresno County.
Traffic going west on Avenue 11 will be detoured north on Road 32, then west on Avenue 12, south on Road 30 1/2 and back onto Avenue 11.
Traffic going east on Avenue 11 will be detoured north on Road 30 1/2, then east on Avenue 12, south on Road 32 and back onto Avenue 11.
Avenue 15 will be closed to thru traffic between Road 29 and Santa Fe Drive in Madera County for approximately 18 months starting Monday, Aug. 21.
This closure is needed for construction of an overpass that will eliminate an existing, at-grade crossing and allow vehicles to travel over the high-speed rail alignment and the BNSF railroad tracks. This work is part of Construction Package 1 (CP 1), the first 32-mile stretch of high-speed rail between Avenue 19 in Madera County to East American Avenue in Fresno County.
Traffic going west on Avenue 15 will be detoured north on Road 36, west on Highway 145, then south on Tozer Street and back onto Avenue 15.
Traffic going east on Avenue 15 will be detoured north on Road 28 1/2, east on Avenue 15 1/2, north on Yosemite, then south on Road 32 and back onto Avenue 15.
