Local food drive in progress
Madera County Food Bank and a local grocery store have partnered for a third annual Independence from Hunger Food Drive that will end July 31.
Through July, community members can give a monetary donation at Madera Grocery Outlet or buy a prefilled $5 bag of items the food bank desires.
“This year we are excited to share the Give $5, Get $5 Promo,” said store co-operator and co-owner Michael Lewis of Grocery Outlet. “Donate $5 and receive a coupon for $5 off for a future visit.”
Lewis said the discount market hopes to raise $4,000 between prefilled bags and donations.
Madera Grocery Outlet is at 1930 W. Cleveland Ave. and Madera County Food Bank is at 225 S. Pine St.
