GOP women award $4K in scholarships

Six college-bound area high school graduates heard to their first professor lecture last week at the annual Scholarship Celebration Dinner by the Madera Republican Women Federated club at Madera Municipal Golf Course.
The sextet, who attended with family and friends, were among eight Madera County students recently awarded $500 scholarships by the club. They were interviewed about their accomplishments during the Thursday gathering.
Fresno State University Professor Gina Wallace also presented her “Advice For New College Students From a Professor” at the dinner, which also featured achievement certificates from the offices of State Sen. Anthony Cannella, R-12th District, and State Assemblyman Frank Bigelow, R-5th District.
Scholarship recipients are Maria Molina of Madera South High School, Jericolouis Garcellano of Yosemite High School, Emily O’Brion of Liberty High School, Lisette Maciel-Hernandez of Madera High School, Andrew Rezendes of Minarets High School, Belen Wells of Dollars for Scholars, Esha Veer of Chowchilla High School and Jazmin Lopez of Sherman Thomas Charter High School.
