Fundraisers planned for hospitalized Madera athletics supporter

A tri-tip fundraiser is just one of a few fundraisers to help support Ryan Desmond, an ardent supporter of Madera athletics.

The tri-tip fundraiser will be held Friday at the Madera Elks Lodge for Desmond.

Desmond has been hospitalized for the past three months with Guillain-Barre syndrome. The rare syndrome attacks the nerves and causes paralysis.

Friends of Desmond are helping raise money to help defray Desmond’s medical cost.

The fundraiser will be for a whole, fully cooked trip-tip with beans and French bread. The cost is $40 and can be picked up at the Madera Elks Lodge, 112 W. Sixth St. from 4:30-6 p.m.

Tickets are available at Creative Copy or by calling Mike Diebert at 474-0251. Dinners are selling fast and organizers hope to sell out.

Eye Candy Boutique, 1506 Howard Road, is also selling “Keep Calm and Desmond On” T-shirts to also support Desmond. Each shirt is $10 and the store has a limited quantity on hand.

Round Table Pizza is using its fundraising wheel to help out Desmonda until the end of April. With a $10 purchase, a $1 donation is used to spin the wheel to receive coupons for various Round Table products.
