The Madera Breakfast Lions have awarded six $500 scholarships for members of the class of 2017.
Recipients are Jonah Johnson of Madera South High School, who plans to attend Azusa Pacific to major in Business; Crystal Salgado-Guzman of Madera High School, who will attend the nursing program at Fresno City College; Lion Dave Tinkle, chair of the Scholarship Committee; Erendira Olivares-Reyes of Madera High School, who will attend U.C. Irvine to major in biomedical engineering; Zainab Qaiser of Madera High School, who will major in liberal arts at U.C.L.A.; and Nicole Citlalli Ramirez of Madera South High School, who will attend Fresno State University to major in biology.
A sixth scholarship recipient, Carmen Hernandez Ruiz of Madera South High, was unable to attend the awards ceremony.
