Local dog adoption fees halved
Until Christmas, Friends of Madera Animal Shelter will donate half of the cost to adopt select dogs from the county shelter, and the shelter will include a free identification microchip.
Like collar tags, the microchip can be read to find out information on a lost pet’s owner.
The special promotion, “Home for the Pawlidays,” reduces the cost of adoption fees to $50, which includes the cost for spay or neutering and up-to-date vaccinations.
“f you don’t find your new best friend on your first visit, we’ll continue to add new dogs to the promotion so please stop by again,” said Kirsten Parksion, of FMAS.
Animals available at half price will have a kennel marker.
FMAS will also be sponsoring its monthly low-cost clinic for dogs and cats 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 3. Rabies shots will be $10, parvo/distemper combination shots $15 and worming $5. Spay and neuter vouchers for low-income pet owners will be available for those with proper paperwork.
The clinics are held on the first Saturday of each month at the Madera District Fairgrounds.
