Police investigate burglaries
Madera Police are investigating break-ins of more than a dozen vehicles in a Madera car dealership, along with a similar series of incidents in Clovis. According to Madera Police Det. Sgt. Johnnie Smith, the suspect, who remains unidentified, cut a chain on the west side of Gary Lane on Veteran’s Day morning to gain access to the Gill Automotive Group dealership at 1100 S. Madera Ave. Once inside, the suspect broke into 16 new vehicles, and stole the liquid-crystal display (LCD) screens from the vehicles, valued at approximately $1,500. “And for each one, it was a specific screen that was taken,” Smith said. “These were all monitors from Dodge trucks.” The investigation, Smith stated, has also taken Madera Police to Clovis. “Clovis had a rash of the same thing going on,” Smith said. “So our detectives are going to Clovis to see what they have on it.” The burglaries, according to Smith, were in an area of the dealership where there was no coverage from surveillance. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Madera Police Department at 675-4200.
