Age is no barrier for this athlete
Tom Elias competes in 70-plus category Proving once again that the limitations of age can be in the mind, author, journalist, and columnist Tom Elias joined a reported 1,500 participants to compete in the Transplant Games of America in Cleveland last week. Elias was in the 70-year and above category.
Donate Life Transplant Games is a multi-sport festival held each year for individuals who have undergone life-saving transplant surgeries. The competition is open to living donors, organ transplant recipients, bone marrow, corneal and tissue transplant recipients.
Elias entered as a kidney transplant recipient. This was the tenth time he had participated in the games. He won gold medals in the 50m and 100m breaststroke and the long jump. He also took the bronze medal in the 100m race.
