Summer time … fun times
If the temperatures this week are any indication, this is going to be a long hot summer. The first day of summer is still 16 days away, but the triple-digits on the thermometer say different.
Remember Tuesday is Election Day. I don’t care who you vote for, just show up and cast your ballot. Being part of the process is a responsibility of citizenship. The polls are open until 8 p.m.
Recall how glorious summers were in childhood? It was the best time of the year. No school for three months, swimming lessons at the pool in Centennial Park and camping trips with my Girl Scout troop. A few times I attended a week at church camp.
Jumping into an unheated pool for early morning lessons was an exhilarating experience. But once we started swimming we warmed up. None of us complained the water was too cold. Our parents paid for the lessons so we swam in cold water. The Red Cross sponsored the lessons and we got certified with little blue cards afterwards...
