Better way to pay for bonds
To the MUSD Board of Trustees and the Madera County Board of Supervisors, thank you for your sacrifice of time and hard work to improve education for our children. One hundred percent participation is needed from ALL to achieve costly but necessary improvements.
I am requesting you to make a commitment to pursue reform in how and by whom local and statewide bond measures are paid.
For local school bond measures, in addition to the taxpayers commitment to pay, please implement an annual flat fee for each household registering a child for school. One fee per household. Proof of home ownership at time of registration will waive the fee. The annual fee would continue until the bond measure is paid off.
For our statewide bond measures, I am asking the Board of Supervisors to work with our Sacramento legislature to implement an annual flat fee for each bond measure to be paid by all registered voters until a bond measure is paid off.
With state-of-the-art technology, tracking taxpayer and registered voter payments should not result in double taxation.
Due to the fact our state is in debt to the point of no recovery, we need to make changes that are uncomfortable but necessary. A privilege to vote yes on a bond measure is a privilege to pay.
