TEC gymnastics gypsies compete in first meet

For The Madera Tribune TEC Gymnastics Leve 4 gymnasts stand with their gypsy outfits at the Gypsy Invitational in Concord.

TEC Gymnastics opened its gym season with a meet Sunday in Concoard at the Gypsy Invitational. TEC owner and head coach Tammi Britton chose the meet because it is known to have some of the top teams in the state.

“I want to know at the beginning of the year what we are up against and where we need to improve before state championships,” she said.

TEC Gymnastics has had 14 state and regional champions in the past three years. At the Gypsy Invitational, TEC had eight gymnasts place in the top six in their events, led by Level 4 all around champion Mia Moreno, who placed first in three events.

“But more important than that is that we help our athletes become happy, successful adults,” Britton said. “One of our parents said it best, ‘Hard days are the best because that is when champions are made.’”
