Stallions put five past Coyotes

History repeats itself as the Madera South boys soccer team put five goals past the Madera Coyotes for the second time this season for a 5-2 County/Metro Athletic Conference victory at Lee Dasilva Field in Memorial Stadium.
“We just came out strong wanting to play,” Madera South head coach Enrique Garcia said. “It’s always good to win against the school rival, it just happened to be 5-2 again.”
Two goals by Alexander Castro and goals from Kevin Osuna, Christan Garcia and Abraham Vasquez wrapped up the Stallions’ final game of the season with a dominant win Tuesday.
“Next, we have playoffs,” Garcia said. “We wait to see where they put us and we’ll get the job done on the road or at home. It doesn’t matter where they put us. We are ready to play.
Madera coach Nic Landeros has boasted a youthful squad throughout the season and every match they have improved. Their ability to hang in the game and continue to fight is a trait not many young teams have.
Already leading 1-0, the Stallions added to their advantage after Castro latched onto an uncleared ball in the Coyotes’ penalty area for the score.
Coyote keeper Ismael Galvan made an impressive goal-saving block only a minute earlier, however the Stallions were determined for another score.
Galvan did his best, although he couldn’t react in time to the ball rolling in the Coyote penalty area. Madera South capitalized on its chance and increased the lead to two.
Shortly after the Stallions’ second goal, Madera South’s Ricardo Barriga tried his luck with the help of Garcia. Osuna sent a ball into the box where Garcia was waiting. He couldn’t find a shot, so he headed the ball out to the top of the box where Barriga took a violent swing, sending the ball flying through the legs of multiple defenders and out of bounds.
It was all Madera South in the first half after another brilliant piece of skill by Garcia. He collected the ball in the final third, however he had little time to react. As the Coyotes closed him down, he flicked the ball over his head and into the penalty area where Osuna raced to the ball and flipped it over he keeper for the finish in 32nd minute.
Garcia and Osuna almost combined a minute later. This time the roles were reversed. Osuna dashed down the right wing before he faked out a Madera defender. He found room before firing a low cross across the box where Garcia was waiting. Garcia latched onto the ball, however he couldn’t put it past the keeper.
Madera finally scored late in the first half after David Gomez chipped in a 30-yard ball into the box to Emmanuel Cabello, who met the ball with his head and into the goal. The Coyotes cut the lead to 3-1 with a minute left in the first half.
The second half was much of the same for Madera South. The Stallions piled it on with two more goals in the half. Their end energy and intent never dropped after halftime, giving the Coyotes more than they could handle.
The Coyotes did have something to say in the last half after Jose Venegas was fouled just outside the penalty area.
Venegas launched the ball into the box where Valencia rose up for his first goal of the game. His leaping ability was evident after he out jumped the Stallions for the score.
