MNLL holds final registration

The Madera National Little League hosts its final registration and sign ups at Town and Country Park’s Field 1 for both softball and baseball.

Today, 8-9-year-olds try out out at 11 a.m. and 10-12-year-olds begin at 12:30 p.m.

Players must attend at lest one try out for Rookie, AAA and Majors for both softball and baseball.

Baseball fees are $140 and all fees include a $60 fundraising requirement. Softball fees are $100 and includes a $40 fundraising requirement.

Official original birth certificates and a school form or proofs of residency (see MaderaNational.com for acceptable proofs of residency) from Feb. 1, 2017-Feb. 1, 2018. Students from Dixieland, Howard, John Adams, Lincoln, Sierra View, St. Joachim, Thomas Jefferson and Webster are eligible to play in MNLL.

Sign-ups for the Madera American Little League conclude today at Town and Country Park. Late sign-ups correspond with tryouts. Tryouts for today is at 10 a.m. for 7-8-year-olds; 11:30 a.m. for 9-10-year-olds and 1 p.m. for 11-12-year-olds.

Late registration fee is $175 with a $10 discount for each sibling, cash only. The price includes 20 raffle tickets for the carnival. Fees can also be paid online at maderaamerican.com using a Paypal account.

Parents need to bring an original birth certificate and a proof of addresses from a number of records. See the league’s website for details.

Students from Berenda, Sherman Thomas, Ezequiel Tafoya Alvarado Academy, Nishimoto, James Monroe, Washington, Sierra Vista, Millview, Desmond, Alpha, Ceasar Chavez, Madison, Parkwood, Eastin-Arcola, Pershing, La Vina, Martin Luther King Middle School and Virginia Lee Rose are eligible for Madera American.

The Madera Coyotes will host a baseball dinner tonight at the San Joaquin Wine Company (21821 Ave. 16) from 5:30-9:30 p.m.

The dinner is for ages 21 and over and is business casual.

The cost is $50 per ticket. There will also be a live and silent auction.

The Stallions baseball team will also host a fundraiser at the San Joaquin Wine Company two weeks later.

The dinner/dance is scheduled for Feb. 17 from 5-11 p.m.

There will be a deejay with a dance floor, in addition to a silent and live auction and raffle tickets. Tickets are $25. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact head coach Bobby Waits at robertwaits@maderausd.org.

Madera Coyotes softball

The Madera Coyotes softball team will take advantage of a three-day weekend to host a softball skills clinic and a cornhole tournament on Feb. 12.

The clinic is from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at Zimmerman Field.

Pre-registration, until Feb. 5 is $25 and each player will receive a T-shirt. Late registration is $30 until the day of the clinic. There will also be a 30 minute break for lunch, not provided, but there will be a snack bar.

Following the clinic, the softball team will host its first cornhole tournament from 3-7 p.m. on the softball field.

Teams include one adult and one child (high school age or younger). The cost is $40 and includes a meal and a drink. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams.

Early sign-ups by Feb. 5, but sign-ups will also be taken the day of the tournament and during the clinic.
