Quilt show winners announced

Virginia Whistler took best of show for her large pieced Fire Hosta Spring quilt.

 

The Heart of California Quilters’ Guild has announced the winners selected by the attendants of its California Dreamin’ quilt show held June 10 and 11 at Hatfield Hall in Madera.

In the extra-large pieced quilt category Norma Romine took first place for her Wedding Quilt. Shirley Ward won second place for her Hawaiian Memories.

In the extra-large appliqued or embroidered category Charlene Hutchings earned first place for her Stars with Flair.

The top three spots first, second and third respectively in the large quilt pieced division were awarded to Virginia Whistler, Mary Ann Giesy Donna Moren.

Large quilt appliqued or embroidered went to Virginia McClaran.

Medium quilt pieced awards went to Melinda Worstein, Linda Zacharia and Rene Azevedo.

Medium quilt appliqued or embroidered were won by Juanita Blumberg, Mary King and Janel Morita.

Small quilt pieced awards were given to Pam Sanders, Ann Rolan and Vonda Piersol.

Small quilt appliqued or embroidered went to Linda Sloan, Donna Moren and Juanita Blumberg. New quilter awards went to Joan Massetti for her Yellow Fever T-shirt quilt and her Stripes and Flowers.

Art quilt awards went to Kay Laswell, Pam Sanders and Vonda Piersol.

Home décor awards went to Pam Polach, Virginia McClaran and Wanda Beck.

Group quilt awards went to Vonda Piersol, Marty Wyatt, Bonnie Carlson and Pam Sanders.

Holiday quilt awards went to Susie Rodriguez, Wanda Beck and Juanita Blumberg.

Using the guild block of the month awards were given to Kathleen Lopes, Bonnie Carlson, Linda Zacharia, Mary Giesy and Diane Maxfield.

Virginia Whistler also took best of show for her large pieced Fire Hosta Spring quilt.
