Madera South student awarded top honor in agricultural services
For The Madera Tribune Frank Chavira, a junior at Madera South High School, accepted the Agricultural Services Entrepreneurship and Placement Proficiency Award at the 89th State FFA Leadership Conference in Fresno and now qualifies to compete at the national level.
FRESNO — Demonstrating achievement in agricultural services, Madera South FFA member, Frank Chavira, accepted the Agricultural Services Entrepreneurship and Placement Proficiency Award at the 89th State FFA Leadership Conference in Fresno and now qualifies to compete at the national level.
Frank is a junior at Madera South High School. For the past three years, he has worked at Chavira & Sons Trucking, hauling commodities all over California, Nevada and Arizona. After high school, he will be attending college to earn a degree in Ag business and take over the trucking company.
“The outstanding accomplishment of this student signifies the hard work, determination and perseverance that are needed in order to attain this level of honor,” said Lloyd McCabe, State FFA advisor and California Department of Education, Agriculture and Home Economics unit manager. The Agricultural Services Entrepreneurship and Placement Proficiency Award focuses on students who work in or own services offered through agricultural enterprises.
The California Association of Pest Control Advisers sponsors the state award in this proficiency area. TransCanada is the sponsor for the national award.
The California FFA Association, founded in 1928, serves more than 82,000 California high school students.
