Basketball seedings announced Friday

Madera South boys and Madera girls earn No. 2 seeds

If the Div. III girls basketball playoff seedings hold up, the Madera Coyotes girls basketball team will make a second straight run to Fresno’s Selland Arena for a chance at a Valley Championship.

The Coyotes earned the No. 2 seed after capturing a share of the County/Metro Athletic Conference title. They will be tested on Tuesday against No. 15 seed Mendota at 7 p.m. in Joe Flores Gym.

Meanwhile, the Madera South girls basketball team earned a No. 5 seed and will host No. 12 Washington Union-Easton on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The Liberty Hawks girls basketball team entered the playoffs and received the No. 9 seed and will play Wonderful College Prep Academy out of Delano on Tuesday.

The Stallions boys basketball team earned the No. 2 seed in Div. IV after its most successful season. They open the playoffs at home Wednesday against No. 15 Yosemite-Oakhurst. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.

The Coyote boys team entered the Div. III playoffs and received the No. 16 seed. Madera’s first task will be top-seeded Selma in the first round on Wednesday in Selma.

In Div. V, the Liberty boys basketball team received the No. 8 seed and open the playoffs Wednesday against No. 9 Sierra, a North Sequoia League opponent.
