Sierra Art Trails under way

The 14th annual Sierra Art Trails Open Studio Tour featuring Yosemite, Mariposa and Eastern Madera County area artists has begun and runs through Sunday.

The three-day event features a variety of media including painting, photography, jewelry, sculpture, fiber art, woodcarving, ceramics, glass and more, said organizer Jon Bock.

“This year’s show features 25 new artists bringing new styles to the visitors,” said Bock. “We realize we have a great cultural resource here and the ability to make our region a destination.”

The artwork is shown in home studios, private residences and art galleries. Some locations host a single artist, while others feature several.

The 2016 Sierra Art Trail Catalog is an entry ticket for two into the studios. It contains a self-guided tour, maps and artists’ profiles. It is available for $18 at the Madera County Arts Council’s Circle Gallery on 1653 N. Schnoor St., Ste. 113, the Visit Yosemite Madera County, 40343 Highway 41, Oakhurst.
