UC Davis finds Liberty starter

Starting for the UC Davis Aggies football team, former Liberty lineman Hunter O’Brion recorded two tackles, including one for a loss in the Aggies’ 52-35 victory Sept. 10 in its home opener.

O’Brion played for Fresno City College last season and was offered a scholarship from UC Davis, which he accepted.

In a Fresno State women’s volleyball sweep over Fresno Pacific in an exhibition match Monday, Fresno State’s Brielle Hefner (Madera) was second on the team with 10 kills.

Hefner recorded 12 kills in three games at the Incarnate World Invitational in San Antonio over the weekend.

The Fresno State cross country team, including Uriel Cabanas (Madera South) and Ann Poythress (Madera) and Cristal Pedraza (Madera South), runs in the University of Washington Sundodger Invitational today in Seattle.

In a five-set loss to California Institute of Technology, Antelope Valley women’s volleyball player Miranda Brunner (Madera) recorded six kills on Sept. 10.

Fresno Pacific cross country runners Ismael Guzman (Madera South) and Jonnie Montano (Madera South) runs in the UC Riverside Invitational today in Riverside.

Marcus McCoy (Madera South) recorded three tackles for Upper Iowa University in its 27-20 loss to St. Cloud State on Sept. 10.

Lilly Martinez (Madera South) had five kills for William Penn in a four-set loss to Central Methodist on Tuesday.

Ana Walker (Fresno Pacific) assisted on a goal in Fresno Pacific women’s soccer’s 2-1 victory over Western Oregon on Sunday.

West Hills College quarterback Vincent Espinoza (Madera) was 7-of-16 for 44 yards in a 27-22 loss Sept. 10 to Los Medanos.

In a 47-0 victory over San Jose City College, Merced College returner Jackson Watts (Liberty) returned San Jose’s lone kickoff 59 yards to begin a scoring drive. He has four returns this season for a 50-yard average.

Logan Pierce (Liberty) recorded three tackles in College of the Sequoias-Visalia’s 28-21 victory over Feather River on Sept. 10.

In a three-set loss to Taft College, Kinsey Kerby (Madera) recorded three kills for the Merced College women’s volleyball team.

Fresno City College women’s soccer player Leila Monzon (Madera South) scored a goal in the Rams’ 3-1 victory Wednesday over Cypress College. She also recorded an assist.
