Last week two Madera educators enjoyed a visit with Action News Anchor Warren Armstrong at ABC30 studios. Eighth grade teachers Scott Gandy (Eastin-Arcola) and Samuel Colunga (La Vina) presented Armstrong with copies of the latest books produced by the Madera Method.
The popular news anchor has been following the progress of the Madera Method for over 25 years, having been the first newscaster to focus on the national impact of the local pedagogical phenomenon.
Armstrong’s introduction to the Madera Method came in 1987 when as a television reporter he visited my 6th grade class at Monroe Elementary with cameraman Oscar Deleon. We were investigating the life of Madera pioneer George Washington Mordecai, whose grave we had discovered on a ranch a few miles south of Madera.
