Lydia Samarripa Rocha.

 

It is with great sadness that the family of Lydia Samarripa Rocha of Madera, California announces her passing. She was born on Aug. 12, 1949, in Oakland, California and passed away on June 10, 2023, in Fresno, California.


Lydia was predeceased by her parents Joe and Della Samarripa, her brother Joe ‘Pickey’ Samarripa Jr. and his wife Natalie Samarripa. She is survived by her children Michael (Maria) Rocha, Amy (Alfred) Rodriguez, Terry (Chris) Rodriguez, Rosie (Rick) Garcia, Patty (Luis) Ramirez, Santa (Frank) Brunnemann, Ruth Phillips, her siblings Lola Garcia, Lena (Sam) Cortez, Raul Samarripa, Fela (Joe) Lopez, Rachel (Jaime) Garcia, Della (Frank) Salcido, Patsy Munoz, 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.


Lydia attended college at San Jose State University. She was on the board for the Camarena Health Center when they originated. She went on to work at Poliletti’s Department Store and Bridge Store in Madera, California for a few years. After that she was a stay-at-home Mom. Lydia received a recognition award for being a foster parent. She was involved with the Navidad en el Valle (toy drive) organization for many years. Lydia was actively involved in her church and loved God with all her heart. She was a beloved Mom, Grandma, Sister, Aunt, Godmother and Friend.
